When is a cut actually an increase?

President Obama said that he would end or severely curtail earmarks from Congress in the Federal Budget process.  Well the "Pig Book" is out on Pork Barrel Spending in the new budget and it is up 15% from last year.  So much for another one of Barack's promises.  Kind of like him saying no lobbyists in the White House and then he appoints some to his staff.  He could have vetoed the budget and sent it back to Congress to clean up, but instead he chose to push it through and then complain about it.  I guess the buck does not stop with this president.  It gets passed.

too bad you republicans weren't this demanding of the president you elected twice. We might have a better situation to face today's problems

Some of us were demanding of the previous President. And some of us were upset when he started spending like a drunk democrat.

Besides Keith Olberman and Bill Maher and Michael Moore and Code Pink and MoveOn.org and all the others complained enough about him for all of us.

Well none of us threatened revolution for losing. And by saying nothing then, it makes it appear that republicans only worry about deficit spending when it's democrats in power and when it might go the poor, not the rich or to fight wars over who knows what. You know that it was $1 trillion for Iraq and it's not done yet. So worry over spending now seems a little late...

The ones most upset with what Obama is doing never voted for him to begin. They did vote for Bush and his ilk. So it sounds like sour grapes to me

Yes it does sound a little like sour grapes. Kind of like all the liberals that said W. was not really president because the 2000 election was not legal.

And we have spent $3 trillion in the last 4 months. That is quite a difference from $1 trillion over 5 years.

$1 trillion of it from Bush and we always spend a lot of money every month. One thing to keep in mind also that it might have been
Bush's war but he never added it into the budget but added it later as extra. This is a honest budget.

But I don't automatically feel Obama is doing the right thing. He hasn't been in long enough to gripe but if he doesn't follow through on his promises with areas I consider important, I will be complaining.

And Bush did not get elected by a majority. The win in Florida came after fraud and a Supreme Court that gave it to him. You can't see a difference where Obama won by many millions. Nobody said Bush didn't win it the second time but that first time, he did NOT. It was handed to him. But the Dems didn't behave like the Republicans are this time.

Coming home, listening to talk radio emphasized the huge difference and I will be writing more about it when I get the energy back to do so. That was one long long drive and although my husband did the driving, there's nothing good about that many miles in a vehicle in 2 1/2 days.

I saw your comment over at Rain's blog and I wanted to leave my footprint here on you blog. Thank you.
