Everybody looks for excuses. It's human nature but I don't think he was a factor at all. I don't think he even tried to be. He just points out what he sees and it's not always flattering to democrats either. He's a satirist. I have to admit though I don't regularly watch him, see him maybe once a month or less, have clips sent to me now and then; so someone more regular to viewing him might have a better perspective.
 

I don't care for John Stewart either. He seems to just be all about him instead of what he is talking about. I still like Colbert, but he makes no bones about the fact that everything is all about him.
 

I skipped watching their rally also. At first I thought it sounded like it had been a good thing; but then it sounded like he wanted to blame all the division in this country on media and that's ridiculous.

Anybody who follows history knows there has been a big divide in how people felt from the foundation of this country. Study the disagreements over founding national parks like Grand Canyon and you see nothing is new.

Media, left or right, more reflects it than causes it. They probably don't help as they are into stirring up frustration and anger, but the values that right and left disagree about are basic and way beyond some media person. I suspect most that listen to say Beck already thought like he does and the question would be more does he follow them to get ratings or cause them? I think it's the former-- unless he thinks the same way and it's a lucky coincidence for him.

The funny part for Stewart is he condemns the right and left media for what they stir up but he ignores he does the same thing in his show. Easier to see someone else than ourselves *s*

Well yeah, it sorta is. Somewhere near 70% of voters don't like this huge, monstrous takeover of much of the economy disguised as "Health Care Reform" and shouted that dissatisfaction from the rooftops.
Our "leaders" ignored us.
The results of this election are a direct result.
Republicans AND Democrats had better get their heads outta where it's warm, wet, and smelly, or 2012 will be even worse for incumbents.

Ingineer . . . Rita mentioned Mike Pense. Isn't he the author of the Imprimus (Hillsdale College) bulletin this month? Anyway, Stewart can be quick, clever and funny but I doubt that he can swing an election in any direction.

Yes, Pence is the one that has the speech on Hillsdale College. Although I haven't read it, looks like I need to now.

I get regular updates on Pence from my facebook account. He was also featured tonight on 12 in 2012. twelve possible candidates for the 2012 election. I keep hearing that no one can be elected from the House, but I think that's crazy. He's had plenty of experience and doesn't waver on his beliefs.

Right after the election this year, he gave up his 3rd in line leadership because he felt he needs to focus on something else.

Either he is planning on replacing Mitch Daniels as Indiana's governor or he's considering a run for the presidency. Although I would love another conservative governor here, I think he is needed more in the White House.

Check him out. He won the straw poll in a recent Conservative Values Voters meeting.
 

Practically all of the broadcasters, whether so-called right or left, radio or TV and most commercial Internet sites espouse views in such a way to make money. They do it deliberately, laugh amongst themselves at how easily their followers and those opposed are manipulated -- so I don't waste time with them except for an occasional laugh at a well-written jibe or at their grossly over-the-top distortions. Meanwhile they're running to the bank with their loot. I think Stewart and Colbert are somewhat sincere in expressing a point of view but they honestly say they're entertainers not newsmen.

Some present themselves as news people (and the naive believe them) but they really have contaminated their reports with entertainment. All these people know well how a little tabloidism (like Murdoch who I watched after he expanded from his Australian tabloid greedily destroy G.B. press credibility when he got power hungry, then invaded U.S. media seeking world power) and radical statements with fast play of fact/fiction mix (like Limbaugh - I liked him when he first started on radio, then as he gained listeners and became more verbose, I started really listening to what his words were becoming and realized how he was increasingly distorting truth. Those people I convinced to carefully listen, too, came to the same conclusion, surprisingly to them.)

A good question to ask is how much do some of those broadcasters really believe of what they say? When a newsperson's report masquerades as news but is injected with entertainment, what they say is generally infused with opinion, (they don't always identify as only opinion) but they may represent as fact, and they're not above distorting truth. Who are seeking power/money and how much is calculated to simply stir up the hoi polloi (easily done with some) while playing to individuals baser instincts is also a good question.

Thanks Greybeard. I have been commenting on a few blogs and occasionally on Facebook, but haven't taken the time to write up my own posts. Maybe now that winter is here, I will give it a try.
 

I quit Facebook because I was angry ALL the time. But a buddy said, "If you quit completely, THEY WIN". And he's right.
We gotta convert as many mentally ill people as we can before the SHTF.
